Meet Daniel Daniel has fought his whole life.
Daniel smiling beside the water

As a child, he had to find his way in a world that did not always understand him. In primary school, he was told that he would never be able to pass his exams.

But they did not know Daniel.

He kept going. He passed his exams, earned a bachelor’s degree from DTU and travelled to China to pursue a master’s degree in neuroscience – the study of the brain.

He had only one month left of his degree before he was due to return home to Denmark.

Ducks for Daniel You found one of Daniel's ducks

The little yellow duck you are holding did not end up here by accident. It carries the story of Daniel – a young Dane who is now fighting the greatest battle of his life far from home.

Why a rubber duck?

Before the accident, Daniel was about to complete his master’s degree in neuroscience in China. He had talked about buying lots of small rubber ducks and leaving them around SDC and elsewhere as his own slightly unusual way of saying goodbye to China.

Daniel never had the chance to carry out the idea himself.

So his family decided to do it for him.

Daniel’s ducks are now being placed in Denmark, China and other places around the world. Every duck leads back to this website, where people can get to know Daniel, follow his journey and help carry his story forward.
